Please Read! These Awards are sponsored by Australian Line Dancer. Details on close of voting for 2013 & date of awards presentation to be advised, either at the 2014 Australian Country Line Dancing Championships or Mayworth 2014.

You can vote in as many of the categories as you like, once every month. Instructors are encouraged to collect votes from their classes & socials and submit them monthly (class voting form - right click & save). See below for rules. The more people & classes that vote, the more truly representative the results. These awards are not for technical merit, but are popularity based awards (the most votes wins). It's not necessarily the best dance that wins.

While the rules do not exclude older dances, ideally voting is for recently released dances

The Line Dancer of the Year Award is a nomination award. It is intended to recognise those who have contributed to promoting line dancing beyond the interests of their own club, have done charity work etc. It is not meant to recognise your favourite instructor. When nominating, include as much detail as you can. The Awards Committee will combine all the nominations and chose the person who has done the most for line dancing in the year (quality, not number of nominations is important). The Line Dancer award is open to all resident Australians involved in line dancing, be they instructors, choreographers, dancers, 'helpers', website operators etc.
Note that most teachers teach classes, run socials, many choreograph dances, do workshops & run tours and of course are loved by their students. We are looking for nominations based on something extra such as volunteer & charity work (specific details please!), evidence of promoting line dancing beyond the interests of the teacher's own club, networking and so forth. For example, a past winner raised over $80,000 for charity in one year. Call it the nomination that has the X-Factor!

Please Read the Voting Rules

Voting (Please fill in as many fields as you wish and then click "submit", once per month. Alternatively email the votes to "roots-boots@hotmail.com"). In order to reduce voting from non-dancers, votes will only be accepted if they include at least one of the Australian dance categories).
**Voter IP addresses are recorded - suspicious votes & those with names not matching the IP address will ruled as invalid**

Voting
 rules:

Use the online form above or email your votes (you don't have to vote in every category) to David Powell. Internet votes will be combined with votes posted & collected by committee members to determine the winners in each category. Voting is open to Australian residents who are currently line dancing (please don't ask your non-dancing friends & family to vote). Non-dancers are not allowed to vote! Multiple votes from the same IP address need to be verified - if it is a class voting, use the voting form.
In order to encourage more individual votes and votes from smaller classes and reduce the bias from large groups, class votes will be capped on a monthly basis (individual votes are counted as is). This means instructors with large classes will not swamp the votes.
You may vote once every month until voting closes (NY Eve). When voting for a dance please include the choreographer's name since there may be more than one dance with the same name. You need to include your name when voting. Anonymous votes are not counted.
The awards committee reserves the right to alter a voter's categories where necessary (eg: a foreign dance is voted in an Australian category) and to reject multiple monthly votes & other attempts to rig the results.
